What this site collects, why, and how you control it.
Analytics
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 runs and records the pages you visit, where you came from (such as LinkedIn, a Google search or a campaign link), your approximate country and city, and your device and browser. For this, Google stores cookies whose names start with _ga in your browser.
I don’t use this data for advertising, and Google’s advertising features are switched off in the site’s setup. If you decline, Google Analytics never loads.
Your choice
Your choice is kept in your own browser (local storage), not in a cookie. You can change it with the button on this page, or with “Analytics settings” at the foot of every page.
If you withdraw your consent, Google Analytics stops and its cookies for this site are removed from your browser.
Visit counter
Whether or not you accept analytics, the site’s own server counts page views without cookies or local storage. For each view it keeps the page, the site you came from (its domain only), the language version and your approximate country (from Cloudflare). If the link you followed carried campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content), they are kept with that view, as is whether it was the first page you opened on the site. To count distinct visitors per day it keeps a one-way code made from your IP address and browser with a key that is replaced and deleted every day; your IP address itself is not stored, and the code can’t link your visits across days. The site is served through Cloudflare, which passes each request on to the server. The counts stay on the site’s server (hosted with Hetzner), only I can see them, and they are deleted after 13 months.
The contact form
What you send through the contact form (what it is about and its details, your name, organisation, role, email, how you found me and your message) is saved on the site’s server (hosted with Hetzner) and reaches my mailbox through an email delivery service (Resend, outside Saudi Arabia) so I can reply. I keep it in a private message list that only I can open, together with my replies and my own notes, until you ask me to delete it. When I reply, the reply goes through the same delivery service, which may keep a log for a limited time. A hidden field and the time you spend on the form are used only to stop automated spam.
